STEVE CLISBY | MAKIN’ NOISE
Makin’ Noise is private, one-to-one artist development for people who are serious about strengthening what they do and completing their work properly. Most artists I meet already have ability. What often holds them back is structure, confidence, clarity or simply finishing what they start. The mentoring is tailored to the individual, so we concentrate on the areas that will make the greatest difference to their development. The four main areas are: Singing Vocal control, tone, phrasing, interpretation and emotional connection. We also work on confidence, performance anxiety and understanding how the voice responds under pressure. Songwriting Song structure, melody, lyrics and whether the song is communicating what the writer intends. We look at strengthening choruses, removing unnecessary elements and helping artists finish material rather than continually rewriting it. Performance Stage presence, preparation, audience connection and developing the confidence to communicate a song rather than simply sing it. This can include live performance, studio performance, auditions and television environments. Production Arrangement, song and track evaluation, recording decisions and knowing when production is helping or hiding the song. More involved production work can also be arranged as a separate intensive. How it works: - An initial consultation to understand the artist, their goals and where they are currently stuck - One private session each week - A minimum three-month commitment - Direct and practical feedback tailored to the individual - Online or in-person sessions where appropriate - A deliberately small intake so I can give each artist proper attention - A free 30 minute consultation to evaluate the goals and direction they may want to go in Steve Clisby is a singer, songwriter, producer, keyboard player and mentor with more than five decades of international experience.
